Coupons: what they are and how to create one to sell more

Coupons are a new way to offer discounts on your listings, and they can be combined with other promotions. They’re perfect for boosting your sales!

You can create and personalize it in any way you like from the Promotions section. Set a discount that will apply to the total purchase amount, specify the duration, and choose who can use it. Your buyers can use it once.

How to create a coupon

In the Promotions section, follow these steps: 

1. Select “Create promotion.” 

2. Choose “Coupon.”

3. Fill out the form with the coupon details: 


• Choose a name to identify your coupon. That way, you can recognize it in the Promotions section.
  
  
• Decide who can use it. It can be available to anyone who sees it on Mercado Libre, or you can create a code to share with specific people, so that they only can access the discount.

• Specify the type of discount. Your coupon can offer a percentage discount (e.g., 10%) or a fixed amount 
(e.g., US$ 1,000). Take into account that the discount applies to the total purchase of the products you participate with.
• Set the conditions for the coupon. You will need to set a minimum purchase amount for the discount to apply on purchases that meet or exceed that amount. You will also need to specify a budget that will be reduced based on the discounts applied each time you sell.

• Determine the coupon duration. It can be set for a maximum of one month. It will no longer be usable after the time is up or if the budget runs out. 

4. After creating the coupon, you’ll return to the Promotions section and find it in the “Created by you” group. 

In the list, you’ll see the coupons below the promotions. To participate, just click “Participate.” Learn how to add listings to promotions and coupons.

All set! Once you finish these steps, you'll have created a coupon that will give your buyers access to a new benefit and help increase your sales opportunities.

If you want to delete your coupon or modify the general conditions, you can do it from the three-dot menu of your promotion.
