Unsafe products

There are products that are removed from the market by their manufacturers because they are unsafe for consumers, faulty or defective. This is known as "recall".

It may also happen that the control authority of a country declares a product unsafe and issues a safety alert or similar.

At Mercado Libre we cancelled content* when the product has been removed from the market by its manufacturer, it’s part of a security alert campaign by control authorities, or when we consider —under the exclusive criteria of Mercado Libre— that the products offered can be potentially unsafe for consumers.

Before content* or buying a product, it’s important that you check if it’s part of a security campaign, authority alert, or if it’s prohibited in our policies.

If your listing was suspended under this policy, avoid selling the product and contact the manufacturer of the product directly to learn about the conditions of the recall. If you’re not able to contact the manufacturer, try reaching out to the local authorities of your country.

Our goal is to offer the best experience to our users so that they can find safe and reliable products.

*Includes any content through which you offer products or services in different sections of the platform, using listings, clips, ads, account details, messaging channels, questions/answers, opinions, among others.

Content that does not respect our Prohibited products policy or any current legislation will be cancelled. This could lead to your partial, temporary or permanent suspension to sell on the website.
