How to participate in a promotion with my listings
Offering discounts is an excellent way of increasing your exposure and boosting your sales.
Below, you will find a series of requirements and criteria to make your listings eligible to participate in our Promotions.
Which listings are eligible for discounts?
- You can create discounts for Classic and Premium listings, but if you sell products in Argentina, discounts are limited to Classic listings.
- If your product is from outside the Catalog, you can only create discounts on new products with at least three orders in the last 30 days. If your product is already from the Catalog, it is unnecessary to comply with this requirement. Check if your product is from the Catalog.

What types of promotions can I find?
- Deal of the day. Reach more buyers for 24 hours.
- Lightning deal. Offer products with limited stock for 6 hours. It is ideal to rotate your inventory in a short time.
- Shared deal. Offer a discount, and we add an extra percentage.
- Pre-negotiated deal. In this case, a Key Account Manager from Mercado Libre contacts you to determine which items will have a discount, what percentage they will have, and how long they will last.
- Boost your sales for overstock items (valid in Chile and Mexico only). This campaign is designed to address any challenges you may be facing with slow-moving and excess inventory.
- Beat the competition with help from Mercado Libre. This campaign allows you to match the price of other similar products on competitor websites.
- Increase your sales. This campaign will highlight the discount of your products and reduce your fees for each sale.
- Create your promotion. You can create your own promotion to increase your sales according to your need and business particularities. The promotions you can create from your own are the following:
- Percentage discount. Offer a customizable discount percentage, available for up to one month.
- Quantity discounts. Provide discounts for purchasing two or more units of your products, helping you to make more sales in less time. Check how to create a quantity discount.
- Percentage discount. Offer a customizable discount percentage, available for up to one month.
What happens if I change the price of my listing while participating in a promotion?
- If you lower the price of your listing and your promotion is scheduled, the discount on your account will be updated, and Mercado Libre's extra discount will be maintained.
- If you lower the price of your listing and your promotion is active, you will no longer participate in it.
- If you increase the price of your listing while your promotion is active or scheduled, we will keep the promotion active at the original price your listing had when you started participating in the promotion. The new price will be shown when the promotion ends.
- If you participate in a Shared deal (this category includes the Create your promotion and Pre-negotiated deal promotion types), and you lower the price of your listing and your promotion is active, the discount on your account will be removed, and Mercado Libre extra discount will be maintained.
Keep in mind that if you participate in our promotional campaigns, the final price of your listings can not be lower than the minimum listing price selected for each country.
This guideline applies to all campaigns, except for the “Boost Your Sales for Overstock Items” campaign and the “Clearance” campaign (valid in Chile and Mexico only), which will help you improve the performance of your listings that haven't had sales for more than 30 days, or have been in long-term storage for over 70 days. For these two campaigns, the final price can be lower than the minimum listing price.
