Terms and Conditions for the use of Artificial Intelligence

Mercado Libre may offer Users generative artificial intelligence (henceforth, “AI”) tools , to facilitate the management of various platform features and improve the experience within the MELI ecosystem. 

The AI tools offered may be proprietary to Mercado Libre or belong to third-party providers and will be used for purposes such as enhancing images, videos or audios, translating voices, generating text, questions, and answers, among others. Whenever possible, the use of these tools will be optional, and in such cases, the services offered by Mercado Libre can still be used even when Users choose not to use said tools.

Considering that AI is a technology that is constantly evolving, it cannot be guaranteed that the results provided will always be correct or suitable. Users should employ their own judgment and discretion when interpreting and using content generated by AI. The use of these tools does not exempt Users from liability for the content they generate on the platform or the actions resulting from their use. Those who decide to use AI tools should review the content generated before creating a listing to ensure that the results align with the Website Terms and Conditions of Use and all its annexes, as well as applicable laws. Thus, they will be solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and quality of the content they create.

Users authorize Mercado Libre and the providers of such tools to utilize their content for the provision of AI services and the enhancement of their models.

Content created by or with the help of AI does not necessarily belong to Users, considering how this type of technology operates and the state of applicable regulations. However, they can always use it within our ecosystem. 

Finally, Users further commit to:

  • Use AI tools in an ethical and responsible manner, respecting the rights of others and avoiding their misuse;
  • Include personal data only when strictly necessary;
  • Not include or generate content that infringes any laws, our Terms and Conditions, and especially our Listing Policies;
  • Not imply that the content generated through AI tools was created by individuals.
