What should I do if my product is recalled or deemed unsafe?

Mercado Libre prioritizes the safety and reliability of products offered on our platform. Occasionally, products are recalled by manufacturers due to safety concerns, defects, or being deemed unsafe by regulatory authorities. We actively remove listings for such products to protect our users.

Consider this information:

  • Recalls: Products recalled by manufacturers for being unsafe or defective are removed from listings.
  • Safety Alerts: Listings are also cancelled if products are identified in safety alerts issued by control authorities.
  • Mercado Libre's Criteria: We may remove products we believe could represent a risk to consumer safety.
  • User Responsibility: Sellers and buyers should verify if a product is subject to recall, safety alerts, or prohibited by our policies before listing or ordering.
  • Deactivated Listings: If your listing is deactivated, stop selling the item and contact the manufacturer for recall details. If this isn't possible, reach out to local authorities.

Our Commitment is ensuring a secure shopping environment where users can find safe, reliable products without the risk of encountering recalled or unsafe items.

This applies to all forms of content on Mercado Libre, including listings, ads, and communication channels.

Products that do not follow out Prohibited products policy or any current legislation will be cancelled. This could lead to the partial, temporary, or permanent suspension of your account on the marketplace.
