What’s the difference between partial and total refund?

These are the differences between the refund options you can offer to your buyers to resolve a complaint:

Total refund Partial refund

You’ll refund the total amount of the order.

 You can choose what percentage of the order to offer as a refund.
The complaint will close, and your reputation will no longer be affected.

Once the complaint is closed, your reputation won't longer be affected.

In either case, you can offer it only once, and the buyer will keep the product.

When is it convenient to offer a partial refund?

Offering a partial refund to the buyer can be an effective solution to a complaint, especially when:

  • The product has missing parts or accessories.
  • The product has a minor fault or defect.
  • The product is slightly different from what the buyer chose.
